About PCEA Nanyuki Spinners and Weavers
PCEA Nanyuki Spinners and Weavers is a women-led self-help project, registered under the Ministry of Culture and Social Services, and founded under the Presbyterian Church of East Africa on 4th July 1977. Its mission began with the aim of training widowed, single, and disadvantaged women in spinning, knitting, and weaving—empowering them with skills to become self-reliant.
Our Mission
To promote sustainable livelihoods through artisanal wool weaving, fostering community development, and celebrating our rich cultural heritage.
Our Journey
Over the decades, our journey has been powered by community, faith, and international partnerships. From humble beginnings with just six women, donated wool, and simple equipment, the center has grown into a thriving hub of craftsmanship. Today, more than 280 women have been trained, many of whom have launched their own projects or formed sister groups across Kenya.
